Google is expected to launch the next generation of the Pixel smartphones after the first generation of smartphones were launched by the company last year in the month of October. The Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones from 2016 were the first smartphones designed and manufactured entirely by Google and the smartphones have been marketed as ‘Made by Google’. The Google Pixel 2017 lineup is also expected to remain the same with the Google Pixel 2017 manufactured by HTC and the Google Pixel 2 XL to be manufactured by LG. Now, we have received the first image of the Google Pixel 2017 codenamed ‘Walleye’ thanks to Evan Blass who has been famously known for leaking the images of the to-be-announced smartphones in advance.
Talking about the leaked image of the Google Pixel 2017, the Pixel 2017 which is the smaller of the two Pixel smartphones expected to be launched later this year will have similarly sized bezels as seen on the last year’s Pixel phones. Also, the Google Pixel lineup of 2017 is expected to be coming without the 3.5 mm headphone jack and the leaked image of the Pixel 2017 confirm the fact as there is no cutout of the headphone jack that is evident from the image. One interesting thing is that the Google Pixel 2017 will have front-facing stereo speakers same as the Nexus 6p which was released in 2015.
Apart from that, VentureBeat also notes that the Google Pixel 2017 lineup is not expected to have a dual rear camera setup on the back which is interesting as all the flagship smartphones launched this year have a dual camera setup excluding the HTC U11. Also, the Google Pixel 2017 will have Edge Sense features same as the HTC U11 which have been expected as HTC is manufacturing the device. However, do note that the Google Pixel 2 XL which is codenamed ‘Taimen’ and is manufactured by LG is expected to have a full-vision display with minimal bezels.
