Google had announced the Pixel and the Pixel XL smartphones last year which are the first smartphone which have been entirely designed and manufactured by Google. The smartphones have also been marketed as the first “Made by Google” smartphones. The Pixel and Pixel XL are the successors to the Nexus lineup which was popular for getting the Android updates first as released by Google. Same is the case with Pixel phones as well, the company has promised that the Pixel phones will also get the latest Android updates on their smartphones as soon as they are released. Now, the Android 8.0 update is just around the corner and Google has already released Android O Developer Previews to the Pixel as well as Nexus devices.
Now, it seems that the Developer Preview 4 of Android O is just around the corner as some of the owners of Google Pixel XL smartphones are reporting that their phones have started to receive the update already. One interesting thing here is that the update comes with the Android 8.0.0 version so it is confirmed that the Android O update will be Android 8.0 which will be the successor to the Android 7.0 Nougat. The Android O naming has not been revealed yet so we may have to wait for that for a little while.
Apart from that, the update also comes with the August Security Patch update which will be the next Security Patch after the July Security Patch. However, the July Security Patch was released by Google just a few weeks back and the month of July has barely been half way through so this update may have been sent out by mistake. However, you may see the update on your Pixel and Pixel XL devices so keep an eye out for the update. If you have received the update, let us know in the comments section below.
