Huawei has announced the latest flagship smartphone from its sub-brand Honor. The smartphone is the Huawei Honor 9 which is the successor to the last year’s Huawei Honor 8. The Huawei Honor 9 follows the same design language as well as camera setup from its predecessor, the Honor 8. The Huawei Honor 9 comes with glass back body and dual rear cameras as seen on the Honor 8 as well. However, the Honor 9 comes with curved edges at the back which give nice grip and feel to hold the device. The Honor 9 also includes an upgraded dual camera setup with the cameras coming in at 20MP + 12MP resolution. The device will be available in Gold, Gray, and Blue color options.
As for the specifications of the Honor 9, the device has a 5.15-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) LTPS display offering a pixel density of 428 PPI. Under the hood is the 64-bit Kirin 960 octa-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz and comes coupled with Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. The device will be available in 6GB and 4GB RAM variants with 64GB and 128GB of internal storage options respectively. There is also a MicroSD card for further expansion of storage up to 256GB. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat based EMUI 5.1 out of the box. The device supports dual SIM dual standby using the hybrid slot where the user can either opt for a secondary SIM or MicroSD card. Talking about the dual camera setup on the rear, there is a 20MP Monochrome sensor and a 12MP RGW sensor with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, Laser autofocus, and dual tone LED flash. As seen on the iPhone 7 Plus and Xiaomi Mi 6, the Honor 9 can also capture photos with the 2X lossless zoom which the company calls as hybrid zoom.
